Glenwood neighborhood contains lots of cottages and bungalows dating
to the turn of the last century.
Land for the neighborhood was acquired from the Devereaux plantation
during the 1890's.
Many of the streets are named for US presidents, some for early Glenwood
residents.

Glenwood (along with Brooklyn) has been designated Glenwood-Brooklyn
Historic District.
A mixed-use section of Raleigh known as Glenwood South runs along
Glenwood Avenue just south of Peace St. (off this map). Glenwood
South is in the midst of a revitalization and now provides a wealth
of entertainment, shopping and dining options within walking distance
Glenwood neighborhood.
